Report about regional conference “Actual problems of laboratory diagnostics”, Ekaterinburg

BioVitrum took part in the regional conference "Actual problems of laboratory diagnostics" which was honoring the 20th anniversary of the division of laboratory diagnostics and bacteriology in the Medical Academy, Ekaterinburg and the 80th anniversary of the Medical Academy, Ekaterinburg .

The conference took place at the Medical Academy, Ekaterinburg on October, 28th . BioVitrum took part in an exhibition of laboratory equipment and reagents during the conference. We demonstrated the following Oxoid products:
-          Culture media
-          AST discs and M.I.C.E. strips
-          Anaerojar and anaerogen Compact
-          MicroBact
-          RapId
-          ProSpect rotovirus
-          Latex TPH
-          Isolator 10 tubes
-          Plasma display  panel, connected to labtop,  showed video of RapId

Visitors of the conference were bacteriologists from all the laboratories of Ekaterinburg and Sverdlovsky region, Perm, Chelyabinsk,Nizhnij Tagil, Izhevsk and other cities of Uralsky regions.
Marina Averchenkova, microbiology product manager of BioVitrum, made a presentation on “ Blood culturing – the main method for detection of sepsis”, including several slides about Signal and Isolator. The presentation was successful.
On October 29th was organized a workshop which took place at the microbiological laboratory of the Regional children hospital №1, Ekaterinburg.

We demonstrated Brilliance agars (Candida and UTI) and RapId system (RapIdOne). Thirty bacteriologists from Eketerinburg and other cities attended the workshop.
We inoculated RapId panels in the morning, and while they were being incubated we made a presentation of all Oxoid products. After a 4 hour incubation we read the results together with microbiologists.
RapId was very successful. It perfectly detected E.coli ATCC and Salmonella group 1. All bacteriologists were satisfied with the results and liked the system.
