BioVitrum took an active part in the XII International Congress on Antimicrobial Therapy IACMAC / ESCMID

25 - 27 of May 2016, in Moscow was hosted the XII International Congress on Antimicrobial Therapy IACMAC / ESCMID. Congress was organized by the Russian Ministry of Health; The Interregional Association for Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (IACMAC); The European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID); The International Union for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA); The Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (IAC); Smolensk State Medical Academy of the Federal Agency for Healthcare and Social Development and others.

The event was attended by leading specialists from Russia, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. The Congress brought together more than 1,000 professionals from around the world.

The Congress business program covered the current opportunities and challenges for therapy and diagnosis of bacterial, mycotic and viral infections in the community and in the hospital.

The reports of the Congress focused on the following issues:


  • Epidemiology of nosocomial and community-acquired infections in Russia
  • Therapy of infections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens
  • Infection control and  preventive strategies of antibiotic resistance spread 
  • Review of modern Russian and international treatment recommendations
  • Prospects for antimicrobial therapy and prophylaxis of various infections.

 

          

On the conference was organized an exhibition of the leading pharmaceutical and diagnostic companies. BioVitrum was actively involved in such important event for Microbiology not for the first time. At the BioVitrum’s booth were demonstrated reagents and consumables of Oxoid (United Kingdom), and Complete Growth Media of Sredoff (Russia).

        

BioVitrum’s specialists presented solutions for the full automation of bacteriological laboratories using equipment of biomerieux (France) and Alifax (Italy).

The experts and visitors of the exhibition had great interest in antibiotic discs of Oxoid, as well as media for the antimicrobial susceptibility study. In particular the Mueller-Hinton agar with horse blood, which is recommended according to the latest clinical recommendations "Determining the susceptibility of microorganisms to antimicrobial drugs" in 2015.

As a part of BioVitrum’s exposition was demonstrated company’s own development - laboratory information system «LabForce» (Med IT Solutions (Russia)). «LabForce» - Microbiology unit allowed participants to simulate on-site workflow (to pass all stages of material flow from registration to issuing results), to evaluate the usability of the system and discuss with experts the specific tasks of a certain laboratory.
