The 21st International IACMAC Congress on Antimicrobial Therapy and Clinical Microbiology was held from 22 to 24 May in Moscow.

The IACMAC congress is one of the key events for Russian microbiologists. This is a platform for sharing experiences, getting new knowledge and discussing significant problems of the industry. The event was attended by over 1000 participants from 64 regions of Russia, among them - bacteriologists and microbiologists, clinical pharmacologists and doctors of other specializations.

At the congress, leading experts from Russia, Belarus, Great Britain, the United States and Italy presented reports on the most pressing issues. Among the topics were the epidemiology of nosocomial and community-acquired infections in Russia and the treatment of complications caused by multi-resistant pathogens. Special attention of lecturers was paid to Candida auris - as one of the new global problems of health care. A number of reports were devoted to a review of current international and Russian recommendations on the diagnosis and treatment of various infections. In addition, doctors discussed infection control issues and antimicrobial therapy control strategies.

Within the framework of the Congress, the NIIAH / IACMAC information projects ecosystems were presented. Special attention was paid to the AMRmap, an antimicrobial resistance data analysis platform in the Russian Federation, and the AMRbook, an antimicrobial therapy reference guide. AMRmap is an online antimicrobial resistance data analysis platform in Russia that contains a toolkit for visualizing data on microbial sensitivity to antimicrobial agents and the prevalence of the main genetic determinants of antibiotic resistance.

Within the framework of the IACMAC congress there was an exhibition of modern solutions for microbiological laboratories. BioVitrum presented a product portfolio in Microbiology. At the booth, there were demonstrated ready-culture microbiological media in Petri dishes from the Russian company Sredoff, the unique microbiological media containing horse blood, chromogenic agars for various microorganisms. In addition, products of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Oxoid (UK) and Remel (USA), for manual methods of research in bacteriological laboratories were presented at the booth. Dry media, ready to use bacteriological loops, manual systems for hemocultivation, diagnostic kits and systems for the cultivation of microaerophiles and anaerobes were aroused interest among the guests of the conference.

Our specialists modeled the LabForce laboratory information system for microbiological laboratories (developed by MedIT, the BioVitrum group of companies). The participants were able to work with the demo version of LIS and get advice on the capabilities of the system and general issues of laboratory processes automation.
