BioVitrum together with the Federal scientific-clinical center of children's oncology organized the conference “Pathology today – immunomorphology and molecular genetics in diagnostic practice” with the support of the Russian Ministry of Health

For the second year the Federal Scientific-Clinical Center (FSCC) is a platform for this scientific-practical conference on pathology with international participation.  Today FSCC is a unique center in Russia in which medical care to children can be rendered at an advanced level, and it is simultaneously a center of scientific life for Russian medicine. We were glad to welcome numerous participants to this conference.

This year methods of immunohistochemistry and molecular biology became the main theme of discussion. Leading experts of pathological anatomy took part in the conference, including heads of teaching departments for the main universities of Russia, practicing doctors, and heads of pathoanatomical departments.

Some notable foreign lecturers and leading Russian experts included:

Professor Dieter Harms MD (Germany);

Professor Gordan M. Vujanic (Great Britain);

Professor J.A. Krivolapov;

Professor V.V. Bajkov;

Professor E.N. Imjanitov;

Professor I.A. Kazantseva;

Professor E.A. Kogan;

Senior lecturer Prof. S.I. Mozgovoj;

Senior lecturer Prof. D.M. Konovalov;

A.M. Mitrofanova

 Hi-tech equipment was exhibited in the conference hall including the ScanScope AT system for scanning and archiving images (Aperio-USA), Nikon Eclipse CI-S (Japan), Definiens software (Germany), equipment for molecular biology Illumina’s Eco Real-Time PCR (USA), and consumables and reagents for histology and IHC were used as well.

We thank everyone for their participation in the conference and we are proud that the event has received high praise from experts:

"Once again a big thanks to you! In my opinion I liked everything about the conference, including evening drawing!

The practical part made it possible to get more closely acquainted with the advantages of the technology and techniques. I now know what direction to point my colleagues during the educational cycles and conferences.  The users who already are working with this equipment can best explain the nuances of the instrument.  I regret that I didn’t manually work the equipment but only listened and looked. After all it is always good to listen and look, but it is better to manually practice. It is better remembered this way.

And to work with Aperio programs under your management and with your help of the algorithm it also would be interesting.

The theoretical employment in the form of lectures was done well, in terms of the different styles and specificity of work. The material was presented in a very professional way by the leading experts with knowledge of the fine details of the technology. There were also good lectures dealing with the practical details of some aspects of diagnostics - for example, J.A. Krivolapov and I.A. Kazantsevoj.  Some of the lectures had an observational-diagnostic character, such as Dieter Harms, Gordan M. Vujanic, D.M. Konovalov, A.M. Mitrofanova, E.N. Imjanitov.  There was also other theoretical material about the pathogeneses of some widespread pathological processes that also had value.

I hope for further events and further cooperation! Sound health and success!"

Yury Rogov, senior lecturer, head of pathomorphology department at the Belorussian medical academy

"The reports on the first day, concerning infectious pathology and diagnostics of lymphoma, was for me not only theoretical, but also a practical interest for the actualization of skills for differential diagnostics. Visiting a seminar of Xpress users has helped me to solve many questions arising in daily work. I want to thank all of you for the possibility to take part in this interesting event"

Valentina Starodumova, head of pathology department in the Prenatal center of Surgut

"The brightest impressions on me were made by the lectures of J.A. Krivolapov, E.N. Imjanitova, I.A. Kazantsevoj, G. Vujanic, S. Mozgovoj.   I would like for the next year to have training lectures devoted to specific researches (15 minutes for everyone). All the rest was exceptionally well organized. Thanks!"

Ashot Meruzhanovich, head of pathology department, Altay regional Oncology clinic
