BioVitrum Takes Part in VI Plenum of the Presidium of the Russian Society of Anatomical Pathologists

This plenum took place May 15-17, 2012 in Nizhniy Novgorod.  It was a very important event for its field. Participants of this event were non-staff specialists in pathologic anatomy, oncologists of the Russian Ministry of Health, leaders of pathoanatomical establishments and subdivisions, and also scientists and doctors of public health centers.

The scientific program of the plenum was dedicated to the theme “main pathology problems of the prenatal period and childhood”.   Giving reports were specialists in pathological anatomy such as A.G. Talalaev, A.I. Shchegolev, K.A. Pavlov, O.D. Mishnev, V.A. Tsinzerling, A.P. Milovanov, I.N. Ozhiganova, S.A. Gruzdev, and F.G. Zabozlaev.  

On the contemporary solutions in the organization of histological diagnostics the following specialists spoke:  Victor Bovin - BioVitrum telepathology product specialist, and Christopher Tully - Aperio Application specialist for Image Analysis (USA).   Dr. Tully’s report was titled “development of diagnostics by introducing systems for telepathology and image analysis of histological samples”.

On May 16 at the conference the chief anatomical pathologists discussed questions about the organization and teachings at pathoanatomical centers.  Chief anatomical pathologist of the Russian Federation G.A. Frank designated lifetime diagnostics as one of the basic directions of pathoanatomical centers.  Special attention was given to the importance of preparing new standards in diagnostics.  At the conference a working committee for the examination of clinical standards was affirmed and its composition was proclaimed.

 For the purposes of the improvement of work and organization of centers the committee was formed with participation of: G.A. Frank, A.G. Talalaev, L.V. Kakturskiy, O.D. Mishnev, P.G. Malkov, A.E. Matsionis, L.M. Mikhaleva, V.A. Tsinzerling, V.L. Kovalenko, E.P. Kakorina.

The event was held at a high organizational level and in a warm and friendly atmosphere. In the opinion of the participants, the basic purposes of the plenum were achieved: reports according to the contemporary methods of pathomorphological diagnostics were heard, and within the framework of the plenum it was possible to discuss and get solutions on the important questions for pathoanatomical centers.
