BioVitrum Takes Part in Annual Russian Diagnostics Conference

In September 17-20th BioVitrum took part in the annual conference "DiaMa: Ways to perfect activity in diagnostic centres" in Irkutsk, Russia. This year was the 20th anniversary of the conference for the Association of Advisory-Diagnostic Centres. The theme of this year's conference was "Modern quality management problems of medical aid".

The conference program began by visiting the Irkutsk diagnostic centre, which was the first completely automated pathomorphology lab in Russia in 2007. This automated lab was equipped with world leader Sakura's equipment, thereby having realised a modern world trend – Diagnostics for 1 day. The successful work of the Irkutsk diagnostic centre became a living example for other medical establishments in Russia.

During the conference programs were presented on such important themes as: "Problems in the realisation of Russia's Federal modernization program of public health services", "Analysis of the activity of diagnostic centres for 2010", "Work features, advantages and disadvantages of diagnostic centres of various organizational-legal forms", "Questions of maintenance, management and quality assurance of medical services in diagnostic centres", and "Independent estimations of clinical-diagnostic laboratories".

The important topics studied at this conference caused Vladimir Tsimberg (Director of BioVitrum) to write a report entitled "Diagnostics for 1 day – a myth or a reality?" In the report Mr. Tsimberg has presented the modern possibilities automation brings to a histologic laboratory for the achievement of standardization and consistency of results within the term of diagnosis for 1 day.

The conference was an important platform for the exchange of experiences between the heads of various advisory-diagnostic centres. There were discussions about questions of modernisation, medical management, re-equipment and quality assurance. The excursion to the Irkutsk diagnostic centre was an evident demonstration of the work of advanced, modern standards of diagnostics for 1 day.
