St. Petersburg State University hosted an international conference titled “GMOs: history, achievements, social and environmental risks” on December 16^th, 2014. The conference was attended by the leading Russian and foreign scientists. Leon Otten, Professor at the University of Strasbourg (France) gave the keynote lecture, titled “GMOs: history, their current state in the EU, and future research directions.”

The conference included a poster session, which featured a competition for the best research project by a young scientist. First place was awarded by Ekaterina Barinova and her coauthors at the Moscow Center for Bioengeneering of the Russian Academy of Sciences. BioVitrum presented the winner a certificate for the purchase of reagents needed in future scientific work.
