The BioVitrum company took part in the 48th Scientific and Practical Seminar of the Federal Research and Development Institute of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor "Actual issues of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of community-acquired pneumonia. Employees of the company presented to the event participants modern solutions for microbiological diagnostics.

Community-acquired pneumonia demonstrates high rates of morbidity and mortality. The seminar "Actual issues of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of community-acquired pneumonia" is one of the key events in Russia dedicated to this problem. The program of the seminar included the most acute issues of community-acquired pneumonia.

The event was attended by general practitioners, general practitioners, pulmonologists, infectious disease specialists, virologists, clinical pharmacologists, laboratory diagnostics specialists, health care organizers, teachers, interns, interns and students. The main objective of the seminar was  increasing the awareness of specialists in the management of patients with community-acquired pneumonia. All participants received comprehensive information on modern diagnostic algorithms and methods of pharmacotherapy and disease prevention.

The scientific part of the event was opened by the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ph.D. Roman Sergeyevich Kozlov. The rector of Smolensk University presented to the audience a report on the etiology of community-acquired pneumonia and analyzed the possible causes of the spread of the disease.

The seminar also addressed the issues of diagnosis and treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, and gave useful practical recommendations. A separate report was devoted to the identification of this disease in children.

In several speeches, community-acquired pneumonia was considered as a complication of influenza and SARS. The audience listened to a report on the features of the circulation of influenza viruses and SARS in the current season. The event finished with a review of clinical cases and discussion. Experts discussed with their colleagues important scientific questions.

During the seminar, an exhibition of modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment was organized. The company BioVitrum presented  its product in the direction of "Microbiology". The great interest of participants was caused by The Signal System. It is based on the manometric method, which has been successfully used in Europe for sterility testing for more than 20 years. BioVitrum presented Russian products  - ready-culture microbiological media in Petri dishes of “Sredoff” company. More than 30 types of media, including unique ones that have no analogues in Russia, is produced in St. Petersburg using raw materials from leading world companies. BioVitrum also demonstrated to the participants dry nutrient media of Oxoid company (UK).

BioVitrum presented the Sensititre analyzer, that automates the laboratory process. It is used for antimicrobial susceptibility testing and allows to determine the main clinically significant mechanisms of resistance. Modern diagnostic techniques have caused great interest among the guests of the event.

Specialists of BioVitrum received a diploma for participating in a seminar from the hands of the deputy head of the MDDI on laboratory medicine and promotion of laboratory services of the Federal Research Institute for Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Elena Tivanova.
