BioVitrum participates in the multi-disciplinary conference "Pathology cells". The First in the Series "Cytology of the 21st Century"

On December 12-14, 2013 in the Federal Biology Institute named for N.N. Blokhin, the Russian Academy of Medical Science  held a multidisciplinary conference "Pathology cells" which is the first in the series "Cytology - XXI century". The event brought together experts in various fields: clinical cytology and histology, cytogenetics, molecular biologists and other professionals working in these fields, as well as clinical doctors. The main topics of the reports were questions about the role of molecular-targeted treatment in the modern practice of oncology, clinical diagnostic services, and issues and opportunities for developing state diagnostic laboratories. Among the speakers were not only Russian but also foreign experts. Derek Poter (United Kingdom) gave a report on innovative methods of molecular biological profiling using molecular barcodes (Nanostring) and its application in medicine.  A specialist from the Czech Republic Dusan Kadlec made a presentation about methods of implementing Lucia software for FISH. BioVitrum actively participated in the conference.  IHC specialist Antonina Oblasova gave the report "Molecular mechanisms of exposure to HPV BP cervical epithelium cells and methods of detection of pathological changes for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer".  During the conference excursions were organized to the laboratory where the participants could clearly see the equipment in operation.  Also detailed advice on modern solutions in diagnosis could be obtained by participants at BioVitrum's stand.  BioVitrum was also a general sponsor of the conference.  We thank the Head of the Cytological Department Larisa Mehedi for the opportunity to participate in such an interesting and useful event.
