BioVitrum participates in the All-Russian Practical-Scientific Conference on medical microbiology and clinical mycology

On June 27-28, 2012 in St. Petersburg the ALL-RUSSIAN PRACTICAL-SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE on medical microbiology and clinical mycology (XV Kashkinsky lectures) took place at the Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education.  This annual conference is part of the development measures of the Russian Ministry of Health.  There were about 500 international and Russian participants including regional specialists, university instructors, and laboratory managers from all regions of Russia.

The theme of the conference was:  “Vital problems of medical microbiology and clinical mycology”. The program of the conference included plenary meetings, lectures (in some cases by chief foreign specialists), and also practical demonstrations and classes.  Recently there have been more frequent and persistent calls frommicrobiologists for the modernization of laboratory service, in particular bacteriological laboratories. New approaches to work are necessary, as well as  a contemporary apparatus base and effective instruments of government in order to encourage experimentation and cooperation of specialists. These themes were discussed at this conference.  For the first time specialists spoke about laboratory information systems (LIS) and a report was given by Margarita Karpusheva, manager of the bacteriological laboratory INVITRO.  INVITRO has been using LIS CGM Analytix for 10 years now and was the first laboratory in Russia to use this software.

During the two ays at the conference such themes as the tendencies and prospects for medical mycology, dynamics of the interrelation of humans and global microorganisms, and many other topics were discussed.

There was special interest given to the practical demonstrations of BioVitrum's microbiology product line including Oxoid (UK), i2a (France), and Vircell (Spain).

It was a very successful conference for BioVitrum to promote and gather interest for their microbiology and LIS products and our goal is to build on this momentum with future projects. The conference can be viewed with an online translation as well.  If you have any questions about this event or any of the products demonstrated, please contact BioVitrum specialists.
