BioVitrum Participated in the practical-scientific course “Organization of Work in the Research Laboratory” on April 17-18 at the Federal Center of Heart, Blood and Endocrinology

The course was intended for scientists and leaders of scientific subdivisions, graduate students of higher medical institutions, students, clinical staff physicians, and practicing doctors, who conduct scientific work in the area of molecular medicine, genetics and cellular technologies.

The purposes of the course were to expand knowledge about: the basic principles of a functioning scientific laboratory, conducting experimental work and principles of organizing a biological database, and about methods of evaluating the quality of scientific studies, sources of funds, and selecting personnel.

The organizers and lecturers of the course were made up of specialists in the fields of internal diseases, endocrinology and pediatrics:

 

  • Olle Soder, MD, PhD, Professor of the pediatric endocrinology department of the Maternity and Childcare Caroline medical institute.
  • Per Hellstrom, MD, PhD, Professor of the gastroenterology department of the Maternity and Childcare Caroline medical institute.
  • Eric Herlenius, MD, PhD, Professor of the maternity department of the Maternity and Childcare Caroline medical institute.
  • Tommy Linne, MD, PhD, Professor of the maternity department of the Maternity and Childcare Caroline medical institute, coordinator of questions and relations between the Caroline Institute and medical universities of St. Petersburg, Russia.


The course was conducted in English without translation.

The participants heard lectures and gained knowledge about the following points: 

• cooperation of clinical and research associates for basic research;

• the organization of transmitting research and laboratory in the medical center;

• motivation of clinical and research associates;

• biobank organization;

• ethical aspects and rules of carrying out biomedical research;

• starting new research projects;

• financing;

• publishing research results.
