BioVitrum participated in the 4th international conference on science and applied research, titled "Post-Genome Methods of Analysis in Biology and Laboratory and Clinical Medicine”

         The 4th international conference on science and applied research titled "Post-Genome Methods of Analysis in Biology and Laboratory and Clinical Medicine”, took place at the Kazan Federal University on October 29th through November 1st, 2014. The main objectives of this conference were interdisciplinary integration, the creation of national consortia for biomedical research and ensuring competitiveness in leading fields of biomedicine across the world. Furthermore, this scientific meeting will contribute to the implementation of new and promising research projects.

         Scientific topics discussed at the conference were in both specialized areas of interest and broader topics applicable to clinical practitioners. Presentations at the conference showed the growing shift from basic biomedical science and exploratory research to the use technologies in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of disease. This research direction is increasingly pertinent due to contemporary developments in genomics, proteomics and metabolomics being combined in a unified medical platform which allows for a rapid transition from scientific discovery to improvements in medical care.

        BioVitrum gave a presentation titled “Advanced technologies for high-performance cell analysis” in the plenary sessions of the conference. Anna Spirina, a specialist in molecular and cell biology, discussed automated equipment from Molecular Devices which has applications for pharmaceutical and biotherapeutic development, allows multiparameter cell screening, and the analysis and selection of cell clones, among others. These products ensure accelerated research schedules and the rapid development of new pharmaceuticals. BioVitrum presented its catalogue of new equipment for cellular and molecular analysis and diagnostics at its booth.

        This important scientific meeting involved over one hundred specialists from around the world: Japan, Canada, Denmark, India, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Iran and representatives of top Russian universities. These included Lomonosov Moscow State University, Saint Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk State University, The Research Institute for Medical Genetics, and approximately twenty other academic institutions.

             The scientific program included lectures, presentations and poster sessions within ten sections:

 - "Genomics and metagenomics";

- "Methods for analyzing the transcriptional activity of the coding and noncoding regions of the genome";

- "Proteomics, peptidomics, and metabolomics”;

- "Bioinformatics. Applications of information technologies in the processing and interpretation of omic data";

- "Cell technologies and regenerative medicine";

- "Nanotechnologies in medical and biological research";

- "Biomarkers, genes and omics in studies of pathogenesis of socially significant diseases in humans. Molecular epidemiology";

- "Personalized Medicine";

- "Post-genomic technologies in drug design and discovery";

- "Sports Medicine".

This event was held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia in the framework of the Federal Target Program "Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry of the Russian Federation to 2020 and beyond", the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.
