BioVitrum Organizes Practical Seminar "MRSA Screening: the significance of conducting a system epidemiological control. Special features of contemporary laboratory diagnostics"

On April 18 at the Federal Scientific-Clinical Center of Children's hematology, oncology and immunology BioVitrum organized the seminar “MRSA screening: the significance of conducting a system epidemiological control.  Special features of contemporary laboratory diagnostics” with the aid and participation of the administration and specialists of the center.

The purpose of this seminar was to consider the topics of expediency, significance, rules and regulations of conducting MRSA screening in treatment centers and for knowledge and experience exchange of the specialists.

The seminar opened with the Head Doctor of hematology, Prof. Galina Novichkova entering into a discussion about the practical part of the seminar and the activities of the center.

During the seminar different aspects of MRSA screening questions were brought up: its epidemiological significance, systematization, effectiveness, qualitative of laboratory diagnostics, questions of resistance and competence, timely and effective patient therapy, and also what already bacteriologists currently use in terms of protocol norms and operating instructions.

During the practical part of the seminar:

Bacteriologists could independently conduct inoculated material onto chromogenic media and identify the prepared cultures with the aid of latex tests to identify Staphylococci aureus and MRSA.

As well the participants were able to view presentations of the full media and diagnostic product line of Oxoid and interact with each other to share their experience of using these products.

It is our hope that this event will mark the beginning of an entire cycle of schools and seminars for bacteriologists to learn more about the latest developments and products in this field.
