On 20^th and 21^th of May 2014 BioVitrum organized and held the seminar on cytology of cervix uteri, which took place at the European Medical Center in Moscow.

Luidgi Di Bonito, the professor of pathology, the chief of the pathomorphological department in Cattinara hospital (Trieste Italy), the president of The European Federation of Cytology Societies, the member of the National Oncologic Committee in the Ministry of Health, the member of the International Academy of Cytology, was invited as the speaker especially for this practical seminar.

Within the framework of the event Luidgi Di Bonito presented the classifications of cervix uteri lesion and reported on the first key aspects of differential diagnostics. Luidgi shared with his experience in the case of organization of the Cervical Cancer Screening Program in Italy, which let to detect atypical cervical cells on early stages of the disease. He told about its’ system of quality control, the methods of liquid-based cytology and HPV tests in Italy.

The participants of the seminar got an opportunity to know very important theoretical information, adopt the abroad experience, and discuss medical cases on each kind of cervix uteri pathology on practice.

During the seminar there was held the excursion to the pathology department of the European Medical Center, where the participants were shown the organization of laboratory work, in particular cytological diagnostics. The unique feature of this laboratory is in the completely automatic processes of handling of specimen, only the methods of liquid-based cytology is used in accordance with standards of CAP (The College of American Pathologists).

The seminar was participated about 30 leading cytologists from Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, who highly appreciated the level of Luidgi Di Bonito’s lectures. Two days of the eventful program passed in friendly atmosphere and active discussions.
