June 10, 2010, Ufa: inter-regional workshop conference Current Issues of Morbid Anatomy and Bashkortostan Republic's Morbid Anatomy Service History, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Bashkortostan Morbid Anatomy Service, took place at the Republican Clinical Hospital n.a. Kuvatov G.G.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Health Care of the Republic of Bashkortostan, GOU VPO Bashkir State Medical University of ROSZDRAV, GUZ Republican Clinical Hospital n.a. Kuvatov G.G., and the Russian Society of Pathologists.
 
The Chairmen of the conference were: RAMS Corresponding Member, RF Honored Doctor, RF Honored Worker of Science, Professor Timerbulatov V.M.; President of the Russian Society of Pathologists, Senior Part-Time Expert on Morbid Anatomy of Roszdravnadzor, RAMS Corresponding Member, Professor Kakturskiy L.V.; RAMS Corresponding Member, RF Honored Worker of Science, Full Member of the International Academy of Pathology, Chief Pathologist of the Ural FD and Chelyabinsk Region, Professor Kovalenko L.V. Leading morbid anatomy specialists took part in the event, Professor Petrov S.V., Professor Zabozlayev F.G., Professor Fedorina Т.А., Professor Avtandilov G.G., Professor Glumov V.Y., Professor Kazachkov E.L., Professor Chernyayev A.L., and Professor Tsyplakov D.E were among them.
The event gathered leading specialists of Morbid Anatomy Service of Bashkortostan and other regions of Russia. 60 reports were presented at the conference, including 14 ones at the meetings and 46 – in the form of poster presentations.  
  
Representatives of the various regions of Volga Federal District provided information on the Morbid Anatomy Service history within the specialized fields and discussed main tasks, functions and structure of adult and pediatric morbid anatomy service. Separate presentation considered chronic H.pylori-associated gastritis in children. Special attention was paid to the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal tract tumors.
  
The reports concerned a lot of issues, such as histologists’ workflow and morbid anatomy departments’ equipment. In this respect Bozhkov A., OOO BioVitrum’s specialist, presented a report on the new systems of histology analysis to automate sample examination completely. Automated systems preserve histology material process technology and automate labor-consuming procedures at the high quality standard and cost-effective basis that is of much importance. The system provides for one-day result, which is a new diagnosis standard. The reliable result within the shortest possible time supports high doctor-patient relationship status.

The conference program included opening ceremony of the Morbid Anatomy Department of the Republican Clinical Hospital n.a. Kuvatov G.G. headed by the chief part-time expert pathologist of the Ministry of Health Care of the Republic of Bashkortostan Tkachenko V.N. He will be working on the state-of-the-art equipment together with his colleagues.


Sectioning stage can be now performed at a special workstation Hygeco (France). The equipment provides a histologist with comfortable and safety conditions for primary material obtaining.
 
New instruments for histology material acquisition include heat plates for quick and safety drying of paraffin-embedded slices andwater baths for histology specimens positioning.  
 

Paraffin dispenser facilitates embedding procedure. Processing is supported by conventional automated system Tissue-Tek® Rotary Tissue Processor. User-defined program controls consequential specimens’ transportation and reagents mixture. Optional additional basket can increase the loading volume and throughput of the basic model.
 
Specialists of the Morbid Anatomy Department of the Republican Clinical Hospital n.a. Kuvatov G.G. saw the true value of quality, safety and operational simplicity of the new equipment.
 
In conclusion one should point out the high organizational level of the event. The conference program included both scientific reports on a wide variety of issues and the visit to the modernized Morbid Anatomy Department.

Such events are of high scientific and practical value, they serve to exchange opinions and experience between specialists. At the conference OOO BioVitrum got an excellent opportunity to share its ideas on the histology laboratory workflow arrangement.
