BioVitrum Company Held the Workshop Topical Issues of Morbid Anatomy Service

March 17 and 18, 2010 the workshop Topical Issues of Morbid Anatomy Service took place in Khanty-Mansiisk. It was organized by the Department for Health Care of Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District, State Health Care Institution Khanty-Mansiisk District Clinical Hospital, and OOO BioVitrum.

The event was meant for morbid anatomy and IHC specialists, heads of morbid anatomy institutions on the territory of the Ural Federal District, and scientists and practitioners of health care institutions and state educational institutions of higher professional training of constituents of the Russian Federation. Khadieva Yelena Dmitrievna, Chief Pathologist of Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District was the Chairwoman of the Presidium and the facilitator of the event.
 
The program included expert reports in the field of morbid anatomy, oncology and immunohistochemistry. A round table Histological Laboratory XXI  was carried on to discuss topical issues of IHC research automation and standardization.

 

The workshop was opened by Kostin Vasiliy Ivanovich, Deputy Head of the Department for Health Care of the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous District. He highlighted the main health care problems of the Autonomous District, and morbid anatomy services’federal support trends. He also marked the advantages and necessity of such workshops for medical specialists.
 
Belousov Valeriy Vasilyevich, Chief Medical Officer of the Khanty-Mansiisk District Clinical Hospital took part in the official opening of the workshop. In his speech he marked the importance of positive changes in the morbid anatomy service development, and highly evaluated operation of the hospital morbid anatomy department.
 
For the opening address the floor was given to Kovalenko Vladimir Leontyevich, Corresponding Member of RAMS, Honored Worker of Science, Full Member of the International Academy of Pathology, Chief Pathologist of the Ural FD and Chelyabinsk Region, Professor. In his report, Morbid Anatomy Services Standardization. Morbid Anatomy External and Internal Activity Auditing, he mentioned urgent issues of morbid anatomy service in Russia, considered law basis for the research work and field’s trends.
Shestakov Andrey Gennadievich, OOO BioVitrum Sales Manager, presented the second report. He pointed at the various aspects of state-of-the-art medical innovations in Russia and at implementation of robotic system of histological and IHC diagnostics and archiving, i.e. the tendency to re-equip and automatize Russian laboratories.
Petrov Semyon Venediktovich, President of the Russian Branch of IAP, Russian Federation Government Prize Winner for Science and Technology, Professor of the Morbid Anatomy Department of Kazan Medical University, Head of the IHC Diagnostics Reference Laboratory of the Republic Clinical Oncology Dispensary, proceeded with the reports:

 - General Concept of IHC Tumor Diagnostics
 - Topical Issues of Oncologic Morphology: Metastases without Specified Nidus, Lymphomas, Sarcomas, Prostate Cancer
 - Modern IHC Analysis of the Breast Cancer: Diagnostic and Prognosis

After the report there were scientific discussions concerning the top priority issues for Russian morbid anatomy service activity, i.e.Increase of research efficiency, activity legislative control, new research methods, laboratory equipment problems. The following persons were among the most active participants:

- Belikov Yevgeniy Stepanovich, Head of Sverdlovsk Regional Morbid Anatomy Bureau, Chief Pathologist of the Sverdlovsk Region, Candidate of Medical Science.

- Ivchenko Sergey Nikolayevich, Chief Pathologist of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.

- Malinovskaya Yelena Borisovna, Head of the Regional Morbid Anatomy Bureau, Chief Pathologist of the Kurgan region.

The second day of the workshop (March 18) included reports by Gilyarov Alexander Vladimirovich, Candidate of Medical Science, chief Scientist and IHC Specialist of OOO BioVitrum: Modern Immunohistochemistry Laboratory: Nowadays and Future Perspectives and Immunohistochemistry Automation and Standardization. The first report presented innovations to automate and standardize IHC examination procedure, and covered issues of efficiency increase in laboratory operation and contemporary diagnostic standards. The second report considered innovating solutions for automation and standardization at all stages of preparing IHC and ISH species.

As a part of the event the participants visited morbid anatomy laboratory and dissecting department, got acquainted with up-to-date automation equipment for histology examination at the Khanty-Mansiisk District Clinical Hospital.
