14th European Congress on Digital Pathology and the 5th Nordic Symposium on Digital Pathology
The 14th European Congress on Digital Pathology and 5th Northern Symposium on Digital Pathology was held in Helsinki, Finland on May 29 - June 1, 2018.
The primary goal was to bring together researchers, clinicians and industry representatives in digital pathology for presenting and discussing science, digital techniques implementation and the latest advances in the field.
The congress theme was digital diagnostics and intelligence augmentation, with focus on artificial intelligence for anatomical pathology. The meeting included sessions on standards, quality management, clinical workflow integration, integrative pathology, translational research and precision medicine.
The speakers of the event were leading experts and researchers in the field of digital pathology, translational researches, artificial intelligence used for diagnostics. The congress united about 150 specialists, mostly representatives of Scandinavian countries. For the participants there was organized an exhibition of companies offering modern solutions for digital pathology.
BioVitrum took part in the event and demonstrated its own IT solutions:
Histoscan.com - telepathology cloud solution designed especially for the Digital pathology. It is a fast and comfortable way to receive and make second opinion for scanned digital slides from any place 24/7. Now more than 1500 pathologists have already registered on the portal.
Multi-functional laboratory information system LabForce - automation of the laboratory workflow. LabForce allows saving and organizing all the necessary information in a single database, providing support for the workers of laboratory processes. Multifunctional system solves the problem of obtaining statistics at any level: from registration to issuing results. Specialists make studies by using specialized user interfaces and report forms system, providing deep specificity of these areas.
The visitors were able to obtain detailed information about the LIS and to simulate the lab working process immediately on the booth, as well as discuss the individual objectives of each laboratory.
BioVitrum IT solution for grossing was also in focus of visitor’s interests. The grossing station was equipped with the company's own development - ePath. It is the macro imaging and grossing solution, with audio, video recording, and photo documentation. There was demonstrated an automatic laser calibration, which has no analogues in the world. Guests of BioVitrum exposition were also interested in marking and measuring during workflow which is possible using the built-in intuitive morphometry of the system. Compatibility of ePath with DICOM, HL7 standards is one more advantage.
BioVitrum presented the grossing station model BV33340 for one histologist by the Tanartis brand at the booth. The height of the station tabletop is designed for sitting work. It is made of ANSI 304 stainless steel.
The grossing station design is made taking into account technical and sanitary requirements for the pathologists work process. The model can be completed with all the available additional equipment and can be further developed at the request of the customer.
The participants of ECDP 2018 took part in the workshop on the BioVitrum grossing station and LIS. At the demonstration visitors were able to immerse themselves in the pathologist work and evaluate the advantages of the grossing station while using the ePath macro system and LIS LabForce.
Within the scientific program A special poster session was organized for the participants of the congress, where over six dozen specialists demonstrated their research results.
