Russia’s New Minister of Health Announces the Creation of a “Medical Brain” to Develop Modern Technologies

Veronica Skvortsova, Russia’s new Minister of Health, has announced that in Russia there will be created a think tank known as "the real medical brain". It is a group of 200 Russian scientists, whose achievements are recognized around the world. These experts will analyse the main achievements of foreign medical science, an find out what modern technologies need to be adopted in Russia and any other necessary work that needs to be done in order to catch up with the "leaders" of global medicine.

Veronica Skvortsova spoke about doctors with special enthusiasm. Herself being a neurologist of the highest category and a 5th generation physician, she recognized that it is necessary to work seriously "on the moral aspect and motivation of doctors". For this purpose there will be measures taken to increase doctors' material interest (including growth of salaries), and to actively develop the medical community which supervises the quality of work of its members.

What else the new minister said:

- Quality of medical aid in Russia will be determined by the latest technologies – by automated machines which will calculate the volume and quality of the medical services received by a specific patient.

- A bill for the protection of citizens' health from the consequences of smoking will again be introduced to the government, without any semantic change in meaning, only "necessary technical formalities" will have to be observed.

- The ministry will actively develop innovations in medicine, to stimulate the introduction of the latest biomedical, including cellular, technologies.
