BioVitrum took part in the International scientific conference "Translational biomedicine: modern methods of interdisciplinary research in practical medicine introduction”

The international scientific conference "Translational biomedicine: modern methods of interdisciplinary research in practical medicine introduction" was held from 10th to 12th of November, 2015 at the St. Petersburg State University. Among the participants were leading specialists in the field of molecular medicine, prenatal and preimplantation diagnostics, reproductive medicine, medical and population genetics, genetics of complex diseases, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, electron microscopy, biological and medical professors of universities, graduate and undergraduate students.

The main goal of the scientific events was to acquaint experts with modern capabilities in translational biomedicine:

  • biobanks creation  and biomaterials storage;
  • genomics, proteomics and metabolomics;
  • population genetics and the human genome study;
  • development of the genetic passports concept;
  • biological objects visualization and electron microscopy;
  • non-invasive diagnostics, diagnosis of rare endocrine and metabolic diseases;
  • prenatal and preimplantation diagnostics;
  • particular genetic counseling and molecular medicine.

The conference included presentations, poster sessions and workshops on the most popular methods. During the business program were presented extensive research endometriosis and uterine fibroids, the most common pathologies among gynecological diseases.

At the conference BioVitrum represented Life Science direction: modern solutions for cellular technologies, equipment, consumables and reagents for molecular and cell biology, surgical instruments for animals’ research, imaging systems.

On the booth BioVitrum specialists on practice demonstrated a tiny drop spectrophotometer NanoDrop Light and a wide range of Bio-Rad sample plastic for PCR.

BioVitrum with a representative of the company LIM (Czech Republic) held a work shop on software for karyotyping and cytogenetic diagnostics, including using techniques FISH and CGH. Modern cytogenetic karyotype screening methods allow diagnosing aneuploidy and microstructural abnormalities in chromosomes.

The organizers of the conference were The St. Petersburg State University, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the State Organization "Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive named D.M. Otta.
