BioVitrum took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference on Antimicrobial Therapy and Clinical Microbiology

International Scientific and Practical Conference on Antimicrobial Therapy and Clinical Microbiology was held on the basis of Rostov Research Oncology Institute, May 17 - 18, 2018. The conference was attended by about 60 specialists from Rostov-on-Don, as well as other cities of the Southern Federal District (SFD).

The event was organized by the Health Ministry of the Rostov Region and the Oncology Department of the Rostov State Medical University. Leading specialists of Russia and abroad (Azerbaijan, Germany) made scientific reports on latest achievements in diagnostics and treatment of infectious diseases in oncology.

Within the framework of the conference program, the specialists of BioVitrum conducted a workshop devoted to modern methods of bacteriological diagnostics work with demonstration:

- ready-to-use microbiological media in Petri dishes of Sredoff company, Russia;

- Dry Spot Latex Agglutination Tests;

- Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) «LabForce», microbiology module, MedIT, Russia.

The conference agenda had a great interest of the specialists from SFD. The number of event participants surpassed all expectations.

The event participants were able to test the growth properties of the blood multicomponent microbiological media (Sredoff, Russia), including unique agar with horse blood (5% horse blood, chocolate agar with horse blood and growth factors), which has no analogues in Russia.

At the workshop, the specialists approved their skills of working with ready-made chromogenic media for clinically important Candida types identification - chromogenic agar on Candida, as well as for differentiation and preliminary determination of urinary tract infections strains - chromogenic UTI medium (clear).

Special attention was paid to the practical work with the Dry Spot Latex Agglutination Tests for the identification of Staphylococcus aureus (DR0100M) and Streptococcus pneumonia (DR0420M), OXOID.

The attendees noted the uniqueness of these tests, because the latex reagent has a dry form and applied to the reaction card, which allows storing the tests at room temperature for up to two years. Specialists were able to realize the agglutination reaction and appreciate the simplicity and convenience of work with latex agglutination tests "DRY SPOT".
