BioVitrum Company Took Part in the Workshop Conference Current Aspects of Breast Cancer Pathology Diagnostics, Clinical Picture and Treatment. Morbid Anatomy Service Organizational Issues

April 22-23, 2010, Voronezh The workshop conference Current Aspects of Breast Cancer Pathology Diagnostics, Clinical Picture and Treatment. Morbid Anatomy Service Organizational Issues took place in the conference hall of Amax Park Hotel.

The Conference was meant to discuss current aspects of breast cancer pathology diagnostics, clinical picture and treatment on the whole and in the Central Federal District (CFD) in particular, as well as to develop the strategy of cooperation between pathologists and oncologists in CFD. As a part of the Conference there was a meeting of the Working Group to prepare Pathology Works and Services Procedure in the Russian Federation, and meeting of the Russian Society of Pathologists’  Presidium. 


The event put together chief part-time morbid anatomy and oncology specialists of Minzdravsotsrazvitiye of RF, Roszdravnadzor of the Central and Southern Federal Districts, heads of morbid anatomy institutions and subdivisions, scientists and practitioners of health care institutions and state educational institutions of higher professional training (GOU VPO) of constituents of the Russian Federation, and foreign specialists. The Conference has been visited by more than 100 morbid anatomy specialists that proves its importance for the Russian morbid anatomy service and medial care in whole.  The specialists paid careful attention to the Conference thanks to its topic – Current Aspects of Breast Cancer Pathology Diagnostics, Clinical Picture and Treatment. Morbid Anatomy Service Organizational Issues—that has been chosen for a reason while breast cancer is one of the main causes of death among oncology patients.

High level of the event was proved by the support of the Voronezh Region Department for Health Care, the Russian Society of Pathologists, GOU VPO VGMA named after Burdenko N.N. of the Federal Agency for Health Care and Social Development. GUZ Voronezh Regional Morbid Anatomy Bureau was one of the principle organizers of the Conference. BioVitrum Company was an official sponsor of the event.


The second day of the Conference amounted in the reports that could be explained by its sectional division. The representatives of the major CFD medical institutions and foreign specialists spoke at the specified sections dedicated to pathologists and oncologists work issues. The oncologists discussed epidemiology, contemporary diagnostics methods and contemporary methods of breast cancer surgical treatment. Albert Antonyan (Germany) and Matthias Varm, M.D., the Head of the Breast Diseases Center of the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Cologne University (Germany), presented the report New Aspects in Breast Cancer Diagnostics and Surgical Treatment to the Russian specialists. The pathologists discussed HER-2 test methods and similar characteristics of breast and thyroid cancer. Special attention was given to the preserving surgery of the breast cancer. 
 
Sectional division of the program allowed the leading pathologists with the unique experience in oncology diseases diagnostic and treatment to highlight the most important issues of the breast cancer clinical picture.
 
The specific conference format that included leading pathologists’ reports, Working Group’s and the Russian Society of Pathologists’ Presidium meetings, round tables, and exhibition show of medical equipment and technologies used for pathologists’ and oncologists’ work, provided the participants with massive opportunities to find efficient solutions of urgent topics and to exchange experience.

The show of medical equipment and technologies used for pathologists’ and oncologists’ work turned out to be the discussion place for non-official communication. The report Organization of Quality Control System in Morbid Anatomy Department  by Shestakov A.G. provoked a great interest in the booth of BioVitrum Company, the official sponsor of the Conference.  The medical officers were interested in the unique integrated approach to the solution of laboratory problems, that implies risks elimination, process control and examination quality enhancement. Company employees consulted the visitors of the booth and answered the questions on the innovative solution, i.e. integrated equipment and automation of histological examination procedures. 
 
In conclusion one should point out the high organizational level of the event with its status corresponding to the one of a scientific forum thanks to the number of participants – over 100 specialists of morbid anatomy service. The main aims were attained: pathology diagnostics’ status and methods, as well as breast cancer clinical picture and treatment were discussed, the Russian Society of Pathologists’ Presidium meeting was held, and the round table to make decisions on the developing of the strategy of cooperation between pathologists and oncologists in CFD took place. As a part of the Conference there was an exhibition where the official sponsor of the Conference, OOO BioVitrum, presented its concept Organization of Quality Control System in Morbid Anatomy Department, which innovative solutions were of reasonable interest among the visitors.
