BioVitrum Company Presents Oxoid (England) and Remel (USA) in the Center of Hygienic and Epidemiological of Saint-Petersburg

June 7, 2010: Center of Hygienic and Epidemiological of Saint-Petersburg received BioVitrum Company specialists who presented products by Oxoid (England) and Remel (USA), the world manufacturers of microbiology reagents.

The event took place in the reference laboratory of clinical microbiology of the North-West Region and gathered leading bacteriologists both from the Hygienic and Epidemiological Center of Saint-Petersburg and a number of municipal hospitals.

 
The bacteriological laboratory of the Center performs various tests, including clinical materials and samples from the food industry, cosmetics, environment, restricted areas, water, soil, sterile medical products etc. Taking into account a wide array of laboratory experiments BioVitrum’s specialists presented the complete range of Oxoid and Remel products. They answer the purposes of diagnostic bacteriological testing and of sanitary and bacteriological testing for the safety profile.
 
Mostly the microbiological testing is performed for diagnosis: to detect pathogenic agents, to indicate parasitic organisms in a human body etc. A wide range of Oxoid and Remel products provides all the required reagents. The presentation included: M.I.C.E stripes with antibiotics gradient to detect MIC; Isolator 1.5 system to isolate fastidious organisms from small-volume (1.5ml) pediatric blood samples and other sterile fluids. The unique Signal, a manual one-step blood culture system by Oxoid aroused much interest. One bottle system allows to grow both aerobes and anaerobes and to receive results within 3 hours after the incubation.
 
Brilliance Candida agar and Brilliance Bacillus cereus agar, dehydrated chromogenic culture media, were presented to microbiologists.
 
Brilliance™ Bacillus cereus Agar is the chromogenic culture to isolate and differentiate Bacillus cereus from food samples.Brilliance™ Candida Agar is the selective culture for rapid isolation and differentiation of five clinically important Candida species: C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. krusei, C. glabrata, C. parapsilosis. Chromogenic Oxoid media feature in a prolonged life (up to 3 years) that is connected with their dehydration and high quality according to the international standards.
 
BioVitrum Company offers not only the complete range of microbiological reagents by Oxoid and Remmel but also additional disposables and all-purpose laboratory equipment. Astell autoclaves (Great Britain)Nikon microscopes (Japan)special and routine stains were introduced at the presentation.
